Now in its fourth year, Living Canvas is a vital Pittsburgh exhibition, not only for showcasing technical excellence but also for valuing process, inclusion, and the lived reality behind each pose.
This year marks a significant homecoming as the exhibition moves to The Maple Leaf in Millvale. For many local artists, this transition is deeply nostalgic, as the venue—formerly known as Panza Gallery—served for decades as a space where they refined their skills during life-drawing sessions.
The body is not a still object; it is a living canvas, full of nuance, strength, and story. In a world where bodies are often judged or objectified, the act of drawing from life remains quietly radical, asserting that every mark on paper honors the presence and humanity of the subject. This fourth annual exhibition continues the vision established by founder and executive producer Mia St. Clair to spotlight the emotion and beauty found in figurative art.
We welcome figurative submissions across all media, excluding photography, that reflect the true diversity of our world and offer a judgment-free space where technical mastery and raw process converge. Join us in celebrating the human form through art.
Juried by Yelena Lamm. The 2026 show represents a full-circle moment with the appointment of Yelena Lamm as Juror. Having won the Juror’s Choice Award in all three previous exhibitions, Lamm brings an intimate understanding of the show's artistic standards to the selection process.
