Field Day x AAP: Artist-in-Residence

Field Day and Associated Artists of Pittsburgh (AAP) are excited to announce a year long collaboration to bring the first artist residency expressly dedicated to artist professional development to Pittsburgh. Launching August 1, 2025 and running through August 2026, Field Day x AAP will provide six AAP member artists with complimentary access to Field Day’s dynamic programs, diverse professional community, and animated workspace in the heart of Lawrenceville. Each artist’s residency will culminate in a curated public exhibition of new work at Field Day.

The six AAP member artists who will participate in Field Day x AAP are Quaishawn Whitlock, Libby Scutt, Katy Heinlein, Jordan Bohannon, Maggie Bjorklund, and Andrew Allison. The artists were selected from AAP’s 600+ members as primed for success in both the co-working fellowship and exhibition sides of the opportunity. The artwork they will exhibit reflects the quality, diversity, and adaptability of Field Day and responds to the established character of Field Day’s physical space.

Unlike traditional artist residencies, where the focus is the production of new work, Field Day x AAP centers the entrepreneurial needs of an artist’s practice – giving artists time and space to develop their web sites, apply to grants, hold meetings, and network with Field Day’s vast membership. The program, designed by Field Day Director of Programming and Partnerships Emi Driscoll with support from AAP Board Director Liz Rudnick, seeks to fill a gap left by even the best arts programs.
