“Throne” („Sostas“) will be a zine celebrating, rethinking, analyzing the monobloc chair – probably one of the most famous design pieces in the world. This chair is unique in a way that as an object it is contextless. When seeing images of this object you cannot understand what year or location it represents. This chair has been seen in our parents’ childhood but ours as well, it has spread across the continents yet it does not represent any particular culture.
Fascination with this object started as a joke. One day this chair appeared in our neighborhood and we started following its journey as nobody wanted it around. After a while this object became the center of our visual obsession.
We invite you to submit your work for the zine interpreting, documenting, admiring or maybe hating on this object. You’re open to send in photos, illustrations, collages, short stories – anything that is related to monobloc. The zine will be printed with risograph, every selected creator will receive a copy. We will also update you about the further developments of the zine publishing.
