Arts&Rec is seeking applications for the inaugural Adrianna Newell Fellowship, a live/work studio residency in the village of Stamford, NY, in the Western Catskills for the month of October (can be extended into November) 2026.

Named in honor of our board member Adrianna Newell, the fellowship invites artists who fulfill one or more of the following criteria:

– Queer lens-based artist working in media forms of photography and moving images with an active creative practice in image-making, show conceptual depth or research driven inquiry.

– Creating work that engages queer perspectives and Queer relationships to land, rurality, and regional spaces.

– Consideration for work focusing on Queer Identity, memory, intimacy, community or embodiment.

The residence is open to artists from everywhere.

Artist-in-Residence Program

The artist-in-residence program consists of the use of a 1000sf studio and attached apartment for the duration of the residency, which ranges from four weeks to two months, based on project needs and availability. Artists are given a stipend for materials and a per diem (totaling $1500) and are introduced to the local artists and creative community. An open studio presentation, artist talk, or public exhibition at the end of the residency to present the residency results to the public is required.

Arts&Rec is a community-oriented educational, cultural, and recreational non-profit organization in the village of Stamford, NY, with a commitment to bringing creative practitioners to Stamford and Delaware County and offering workshops to foster creativity and recreation.
