The Charles Allis Art Museum invites artists to submit new or existing work for The Lift.
While artistic quality is very important, works will be reviewed for durability, safety and appropriateness to the site.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION + CRITERIA:
- This call is open to all artists based in the United States
- All selected participants will be required to engage with the Milwaukee community through participation in an in-person artist talk, lecture on a topic related to the project, and/or workshop.
- Selected participants will receive a small budget based on project needs and a separate $100 honorarium
- Transportation and shipping are the responsibility of the artists; artists have the option to allocate funds from the project budget to ship work to and from the museum
THE LIFT is an immersive, kinetic, exhibition space located in the Museum's elevator. Artists are invited to reimagine the elevator space as it bridges the Museum's floors and galleries together for the general public's experience.
One proposal will be selected for the following exhibition rotation schedule:
Installation: July
On view: August/September
Deinstallation: October
Proposals must be submitted by 12am on June 31st, 2026 for consideration of the aforementioned dates. Selected participant(s) will be notified no later than July 10th, 2026. After this open call, proposals will be posted, reviewed and selected on a rolling basis. Art will rotate every 3 months.
