The Salem Art Association (SAA) seeks painters, photographers, & multi-medium artists to participate in an exhibition in the Annex Gallery at the Bush Barn Art Center in September 2026. This exhibition presents the traditional concept of a still life but with a twist! We would like to encourage artists to seek out a new sense of the old fashioned concept of a still life. Push the boundaries on what we know of the display of inanimate objects in a creative format. Incorporate new elements in this classic art style with bold elements to rival the tried and true “bowl of fruit on the table” motif. Want to paint modern technology or products? Or rival the Dutch Still Lifes but with modern foods and objects? Maybe make a normal still life but with a modern art method not commonly used? We would be curious to see your creative ideas for submission. Show us your new take on the display of modern objects with your painted, photographed, and collaged methods for the Modern Still Life exhibition.
