Position: Marketing Director
Classification: Paid, Full-Time, Exempt
Reports to: Associate Director
Supervises: Communications Coordinator
Work Week:
Average work week is 40 hours on-site at Contemporary Craft with one eight-hour day of work from home per-week optional (following 60 days of employment).
Work week is generally Monday – Friday. Occasional evenings and Saturdays are required for events, with an adjusted schedule and advanced notice.
Position Summary
Contemporary Craft (CC) seeks a strategic, creative, and results-driven Marketing Director to lead institutional and programmatic marketing efforts. This role is responsible for elevating CC’s visibility locally and nationally while driving earned revenue through increased visitation, class registrations, event participation, and store sales, and supporting contributed revenue through effective donor communications. The position also works collaboratively with development staff to support the production of communication materials.
The Marketing Director will develop and implement integrated marketing strategies that position Contemporary Craft as a leader in the field of craft while ensuring consistent, compelling storytelling across all platforms.
This position works collaboratively across departments—including Exhibitions, Education, Store, and Development—to advance organizational priorities and deepen audience engagement.
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in marketing; preferably in the arts, culture, or nonprofit sector
Demonstrated ability to develop strategy and execute across multiple channels
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
Experience with digital marketing (email, social media, website management)
Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)
Design proficiency (Adobe Creative Suite or similar) preferred
Highly organized, collaborative, and able to manage multiple priorities
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
