2026 Theme: Adaptation

All living things respond to a changing environment through adaptation, but what is the mysterious alchemy behind it? What catalysts lie within our world that spark individuals and whole species to adjust their characteristics? Adaptation is a demonstration of flexibility, openness and a desire not just to survive, but to thrive. Whether it takes milliseconds or millennia, a lifetime or generations, the process of adaptation holds infinite hope for the future. Join us in 2026, exploring the theme of Adaptation and all of its potential.

Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts and Agriculture invites artists, scientists, scholars and writers to apply for our 8th annual residency program in picturesque Sisters, Oregon.

Application Timeline

  • May 1 – Application opens

  • May 13 at 10:00 a.m. PST – Watch the Residency Program Info Session

  • June 20 at 5:00 p.m. PST – Application Closes

  • August 4 – 15 – Finalist interviews

  • August 22 – Reference responses due

  • September – Residency decisions announced

Housing: Private room with a shared or private bathroom, kitchen, dining and laundry area.

Meals: Occasional meals might be provided and the pantry is stocked with essential items and ingredients.

Studio Spaces:

The nine studio spaces have been adapted for different mediums. The PMRCAA staff assigns one of these studios to each resident, depending upon their practice. Most studios are rustic, converted ranch buildings, with two using wood stoves for heat. One studio, Studio 6000, is an off-site printmaking workspace a mile and a half from the ranch.

Residency & Application Fees

There are no residency or applications fees.

Stipend

Stipends are provided to offset living and travel expenses for out-of-town residents. Residents are expected to commit themselves for the entire residency session with the stipend being $200 per week.
