Sawtooth 2025-2026 Artist-in-Residence Programs (Due May 15)
Sawtooth 2025-2026 Artist-in-Residence Programs
Deadline: May 15th, 2025
For 80 years, Sawtooth has been a creative hub for the region—an energetic craft school environment in downtown Winston-Salem, NC.
Our year-long Artist-in-Residence programs encourage emerging artists to develop new skills, foster community connections, and create new bodies of work while assisting with studio operations. Sawtooth’s residencies prioritize self-exploration and personal growth while also providing support for professional development, including possible teaching and exhibition opportunities. Our residency program is only open to U.S.-based artists at this time.
Applications for our Ceramics, Printmaking, and Woodworking residencies are now open! Details on each program and necessary submission materials all below.
Ceramics Artists in Residence
Our Ceramics Artists in Residence spend a year at Sawtooth developing new skills, fostering community connections, and creating new bodies of work while assisting with studio operations. Three residents, two in wood firing and one in electric/ gas firing, are given 24/7 access to studio space, materials at cost, free firings, and the opportunity to teach, inspire, and energize our community.
Our residency program is a one-year commitment. Residents are chosen by the Director of Ceramics along with a rotating jury. The selections are based on the quality of the work, its artistic merit, and the diversity of the prospective group in terms of work, background, and stage of career development.
Applications are due Thursday, May 15, 2025. Residency will start September 1st, 2025 and end August 31st, 2026.
Schupbach-Gordon Resident in Printmaking
