Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council Lift Grant Spring 2019 (Due. Apr 29)

Lift Grants fund art projects that are new and exciting for the applicant - not a typical or recurring project. These projects also evolve the artistic practice, advance the careers, and enhance the reputations of the applicants. Grants between $5,000 and $20,000 are awarded twice a year. The next Lift Grant deadline is April 29, 2019 at 11:59pm.

Who may apply: Artists, a collaboration/collective of multiple artists, art organizations applying with fiscal sponsors or 501(c)(3) organizations with annual budgets under $750,000 from the following counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Westmoreland, Washington.

  • Each proposal must designate a Lead Artist. The Lead Artist will answer questions from GPAC staff about the project and the application. The Lead Artist, for purposes of this application, is not necessarily the person responsible for the creative decisions. For organizations, the Lead Artist will be the staff member implementing the project.

  • Each project must be publicly shared. You can charge admission, sell tickets, and/or share the work online. The project must be shared within the following 10 counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Westmoreland, or Washington.

  • Grantees have eight months to complete projects. For this funding cycle (grantees who submit by April 29, 2019), the funding period begins September 1, 2019, and the project must be complete by April 30, 2020.
