Creative Nonfiction: Artists Wanted (Due Mar. 31)

DUE: March 31, 2019

Creative Nonfiction magazine is true stories, well told. Each issue pairs narrative nonfiction essays with compelling illustrations by a local Pittsburgh artist. Recent issues have tackled themes ranging from starting over to dangerous creations, from science & religion to adaptation.

We accept all types of illustrations, from prints to photography to collage, and will consider both pre-existing work and proposals for original art. We are open to unique and creative interpretations of our themes, as we often publish essays on a broad range of topics in each issue. Above all, we are interested in art that will create a sense of continuity across the issue and engage & compel readers. Please keep in mind that while cover art is reproduced in full color, illustrations inside the magazine will be printed in two colors only.

On average, artists are compensated $500 for existing work with additional funding available in some cases.

Please visit for more information on the magazine and its upcoming issues. Future issues and themes will have their own due dates.
