The Associated Artists
of Pittsburgh Presents"Reflections" Exhibit Opens Friday, July 20, 2007 at Gallery 707 2007 is the Year of Glass throughout the Pittsburgh region. There are many special events in several venues presenting exhibits, performances and demonstrations sharing a "glass" theme. The Associated Artists of Pittsburgh will present its second exhibition within the theme of Pittsburgh Celebrates Glass with "Reflections." This open, all members exhibit runs from July 20 through August 18, 2007, with an opening reception on Friday, July 21, 2007 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. The challenge to AAP Artists was to create a piece of art (or 2) in any medium, including 3-D, with "glass" or "reflections" as an integral part of the piece, and with a size restriction of the finished, framed piece no bigger than 144 united inches or 1728 united inches for 3-D. Work represents many subjects and media. The challenge was to "Just think reflections and keep the finished piece within the size restrictions." said exhibit chair, Ron Nigro. "The options were wide open, as long as the theme of 'reflections' was represented in the piece." "The art included in this exhibit represents a wide range of media: oil, watercolor, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, photography, fibers, and more." According to Nigro, "The artist members of AAP stepped up to the challenge, and have produced a body of wonderful, small, affordable works, well representing the theme and AAP." Note: Gallery 707 is located at 707 Penn Avenue, in the Cultural District, and is a project of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. The gallery is open, free, to the public Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 7:00 PM, and Friday and Saturday from noon to 10:00 PM. For additional times or for more information call 412-361-0873. |
