Artist Statement
Each piece I create is an expression of the partnership between Earth & industry.
A balance between the natural world which sustains life,
and the man-created industrial world which sustains our modern lifestyle. I find inspiration for designs in the familiar and common things that most people see daily, but never truly see the beauty in. Sharing my designs is like being able to show people the world through my eyes. A tiny smooth pebble, an aged piece of wood, a beautifully rusted bridge, an architectural detail or a simple leaf...there is such beauty in the most unexpected palces, you just have to take the time to notice it.
The simplistic designs of my Fallingwater Collection are my
interpretations of some of Fallingwater’s key architectural and
environmental elements. This collection is sold exclusively through The Fallingwater Museum Shop.
The geometric shapes & patterns of my Steel Town collection
were inspired by the architecture and truss designs of Pittsburgh’s many steel bridges.
"Our three rivers and rich land, abundant in natural resources, fueled an age of iron, glass and steel. From Earth & Industry a proud town emerged. Steel bridges span our rivers and connect our diverse neighborhoods. We have seen oce booming communities turn to ghost towns, and once again begin to flourish. We have watched as our once polluted rivers and skies turned from gray back to blue. We have proven that we are more than survivors, we are innovators and achievers."
