Artist Statement
Sandra has been expressing herself through visual arts for as long as she can remember. It is her privilege to engage the world through the filter of an overactive imagination! Mostly this has served her well. Though Sandy sometimes works in oils, acrylics and watercolor, her current preferred medium is pastel on sanded paper. And her present obsession is with a childhood toy, The Spirograph. With the patterns and spirals she produces, she adds unexpected and intricate design elements to her compositions. She is a keen observer of people’s facial expressions. She considers a work successful if she is able to capture the emotion the model is expressing.
