Artist Statement
The foundation of Mary B. Mason’s art experience is built upon twenty-five years of creating and teaching art in four different states. Mason moved to the Pittsburgh area from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Her work often features silver and copper enamel landscape paintings mounted in a variety of metal jewelry settings and findings. Several pieces have been inspired by her travels to China, life in the south, and the urban cityscapes of Pittsburgh and New York.
She currently teaches art at two Elementary Schools in the Seneca Valley School District. Sensory Art has been a love and challenge this school-year, especially working with special needs and autistic children.
Mason is a member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Society of Artists,Associated Artists of Butler and the National Art Education Association.
