Artist Statement
Roc has worked in all medias but watercolor is his media of choice. He hones his skills and sustains his interest in art by regularly attending watercolor workshops and classes. He has studied under the tutelage of many local and nationally-acclaimed artists, such as Barry Jeter, Tony Couch, Fred Graff, Judy Wagner, Skip Lawrence, Mel Stabin, Don Andrews Linda Doll, Bill Perry, and Frank Webb. He has been recognized in several exhibits and has been accepted into many juried shows while receiving awards in watercolor competitions. Roc has traveled and painted on location throughout Ohio, Pittsburgh and surrounding areas, the eastern seaboard (Maine to South Carolina), and internationally in France and Italy.
Roc’s art work depicts his enjoyment of painting a variety of subjects, such as still life, landscapes, and en plein air (painting outdoors). During his international travels Roc enjoys capturing the day-to-day activity of the local people in surroundings of the towns he travels through. During his annual trips to Maine, Roc conveys his subjects by capturing the character of the lobster villages and surrounding areas at different times of the day.
He is an active board member of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, The Associated Artists of Butler County, The Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, The North Hills Art Center, The Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. His paintings are currently on display and being sold through the Latrobe Art Center Gallery in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
