The Icing on the Cake...
Art Cakes by AAP!" 2008 is the 250th birthday of Pittsburgh and the surrounding region. There are many special events in several venues presenting exhibits, performances and demonstrations sharing the celebration of our region's history. The Associated Artists of Pittsburgh is continuing our participation in the celebration of Pittsburgh 250 with "Icing on the cake... !" at PPG Wintergarden, as part of the Three Rivers Arts Festival. The city can't have a birthday without a lot of cake. So, the challenge to all AAP members: Create a piece of art (or two, or three, or more) in any media, including 3-D, with "cake" as an integral part of the piece. Works can be in any media and represent any subject... just think cake ... the options are wide open, as long as "cake" is somehow featured or represented in the piece. Works cannot be larger than 18x18x18 inches, and cannot be made of food or other perishable items. Works must be matted or mounted, framed, professionally presented, and ready for exhibition. 3-D work must be exhibit ready, and come with presentation instructions. We want to fill the Wintergarden with CAKES!
