The Associated Artists of Pittsburgh is the largest group of visual artists in the Pittsburgh region. Our almost 500 members represent creative talent in all artistic media a term than continues to change rapidly in this information age. The purpose of the association, which was founded in 1910, is to foster a love of the fine arts and to advance art in the region. The group is governed by a volunteer board of directors, each of whom is either an artist or community member, elected for a term of three years. Officers serve for one year. A part-time administrator coordinates business activities. Anyone who lives within a 150-mile radius of Pittsburgh and is over 18 years of age is eligible to apply for membership. Admittance is based the quality of the applicant,s work, as judged by the AAP board of directors. Screenings are held twice a year and are posted on this site and in regional newspapers. The AAP was incorporated as a non-profit, tax-exempt educational organization on February 27, 1930.
